PDF Expert supports iPhone Duo fully. The app adapts to both folded and unfolded states: unfold the device to get an iPad-like workspace for reading, annotating, and editing PDFs, or fold it to handle quick tasks like signing a document on the go.
Work with PDFs on the unfolded screen
When iPhone Duo is unfolded, PDF Expert works much like it does on iPad. Full pages fit on the screen, and you get more room to annotate, draw, and edit.
On the unfolded screen, you can see at once:
- The complete top toolbar with Annotate, Edit PDF, Draw, Insert, Fill & Sign, and more
- Document tabs, so you can switch between open files
- The sidebar with your files in the Home tab
Here's how to start working with a document:
- Unfold your iPhone Duo and open PDF Expert.
- Select a file in the sidebar to open it.
- Select a tab on the top toolbar, for example, Annotate or Edit PDF, and choose the tool you need.

Use Apple Pencil with iPhone Duo
For the first time on a phone, you can use the Apple Pencil with PDF Expert. When iPhone Duo is unfolded, Apple Pencil works the same way it does on iPad: take handwritten notes, highlight text, draw, and sign documents with precision.
Here are the steps:
- Unfold your iPhone Duo and open a document.
- Select Annotate, Draw, or Fill & Sign on the top toolbar.
- Choose a tool and start writing or drawing on the page with Apple Pencil.

Open two PDFs side by side
PDF Expert supports multiple windows on the unfolded iPhone Duo. Open two PDFs side by side to compare them, or keep PDF Expert next to another app, for example, to copy details from an email into a form.
Here are the steps:
- Unfold your iPhone Duo and open a document in PDF Expert.
- Use the system multitasking controls to open a second PDF Expert window or another app next to it.
- Open the second document in the new window.

Work with PDFs on the folded screen
When the iPhone Duo is folded, PDF Expert looks and works the same as on the iPhone. The folded screen is best for quick tasks, such as:
- Opening a document to check something
- Saving a file to Inbox
- Signing a document on the go
You can fold and unfold the device at any time. Your document stays exactly where you left it, so you can start reading on the folded screen and unfold the device when you need more space.

What's different from PDF Expert for iPhone and iPad
Almost all PDF Expert features are available on iPhone Duo. To fit the device's shape, we adjusted the interface in a few places:
- Navigation. Some buttons on the Home screen, in the document viewer, and in pop-ups are placed differently. For example, certain buttons appear on the side of the screen to respect iPhone Duo's innovative approach
- Layout. The unfolded screen uses the iPad layout, and the folded screen uses the iPhone layout
- Toolbar position. You can't move the toolbar to other sides of the screen on iPhone Duo. Learn more about customizing the toolbar
Compared to the regular iPhone app, iPhone Duo gives you a larger screen when unfolded and Apple Pencil support.
