With PDF Expert, it's easy to make the best of your scans.
Enhance scans
Fix distortions, remove shadows, and improve the contrast of scans:
- Open a PDF file containing a scanned image in PDF Expert for Mac.
- Select the Scan & OCR tab.
- Click Enhance Scan to enter a preview mode.
- Choose the color filter on the sidebar on the right.
- If needed, remove distortion and set the page size.
- Click the blue Enhance... button in the right to apply changes. If there is more than one page, set pages you'd like to process and click Apply.
Split pages
To split double-page scans into two separate pages, follow these steps:
- Open a PDF file containing double-page scans in PDF Expert for Mac.
- Select the Scan & OCR tab.
- Click Split Pages to enter a preview mode.
- If needed, adjust the split line using the blue bullets on it.
- Click the blue Split... button in the right to apply changes. If there is more than one page, set pages you'd like to process and click Apply.
Crop pages
Set a custom page size to control the width of margins and unify the paper format throughout the document:
- Open a PDF file containing a scanned image in PDF Expert for Mac.
- Select the Scan & OCR tab.
- Click Crop Pages to enter a preview mode.
- If needed, adjust a custom page size.
- Click the blue Crop... button in the right to apply changes. If there is more than one page, set pages you'd like to process and click Apply.
Clear Margins
Clearing margins is handy when you need to free up space for notes and improve your printing experience. To fill page margins with color, do the following:
- Open a PDF file containing a scanned image in PDF Expert for Mac.
- Select the Scan & OCR tab.
- Click Clear Margins to enter a preview mode.
- If needed, adjust margins using the blue bullets on them.
- Choose a color from a palette on the right or customize it to fill the margins.
- Click the blue Clear Margins... button in the right to apply changes. If there is more than one page, set pages you'd like to process and click Apply.
Troubleshooting
If you’re experiencing any issues with the Text Recognition feature in PDF Expert, please make sure you have the app version 3.0 or later installed. Then try to quit the app and launch it again.
