PDF Expert offers a handy Redact tool to hide sensitive information in documents. You can quickly blackout or erase names, addresses, credit card numbers, and other data not intended for sharing.
Note: This is a subscription-based feature of PDF Expert.
Remove content manually
- Open a PDF file and select the Edit tab.
- Select Redact in the top toolbar.
- Choose the way to hide the content on the sidebar on the right. Blackout removes the selected content and puts a black box in its place, Erase removes the text and leaves an empty space in its place.
- Select the fragment of text you want to be hidden. Please note that there is no possibility to restore the redacted text after saving the file.
- When finished removing, click Redact in the top toolbar to exit the mode.
Note: The app automatically permanently saves changes if you close the file or switch to another tab.
Find and bulk-remove repetitive information
- Open a PDF file and select the Edit tab.
- Select Redact in the top toolbar.
- Click the search icon on the sidebar on the right and enter your query.
- Choose the way to hide the content. Blackout removes the selected content and puts a black box in its place, Erase removes the text and leaves an empty space in its place.
- Use navigation and Erase buttons to remove words one by one or click Erase All to permanently remove sensitive information throughout the document.
- When finished, click the cross sign in the search field, then click Redact in the top toolbar to exit the mode.
Note: The app automatically permanently saves changes if you close the file or switch to another tab.

How to redact a PDF file:
- Open the document.
- On the top toolbar, select Edit PDF.
- Tap Redact .
- Select the text to redact it. Please note: There is no possibility to restore the redacted text after saving the file.
To cancel the redaction, tap on the toolbar.

To choose the redaction type, tap and hold on the Redact tool on the toolbar and select the needed option.
