Let the Extract Insights do the heavy lifting - it analyzes your PDF, pulls out the key insights, and presents them in a simple, clear summary. It highlights the most important points, helping you quickly understand long or complex documents. This is a fast way to grasp the main ideas without reading the entire file.
What is the Extract Insights feature?
Extract Insights is an AI-powered summary that is aimed at helping you get the most out of the files in the Documents app.
The summary gives a Quick Overview of the file first, as well as several Insights cards: quick snapshots that highlight some of the most important or interesting points from the document.
Once generated, you’ll get a ready-made summary divided into sections you can expand, including:
- Executive Summary: get a short, readable summary of the file.
- Key Takeaways: list the main ideas of the PDF as bullet points.
- Numbers: use this option to take out any numbers or calculations you have in a file to have a clear vision of the statistics.
- Glossary: have the main terms explained in a separate section.
- Bias Detection: check if the information in your PDF file is objective.
How to use Extract Insights
Right now, there are 4 entry points to the feature:
- PDF Viewer: tap the lightbulb icon at the bottom of the screen once you open your PDF file.
- Smart Actions: copy, move, download from browser or cloud, or import them from other apps - choose to Extract Insights on the banner that appears.
- Share Extension: choose Extract Insights from the Share menu.
- Actions menu: tap three dots on the file’s thumbnail and choose Extract Insights from the Actions menu.
To use the tool, follow these steps:
- Use any of the entry points to apply Extract Insights to your PDF file.
- Let the processing flow finish - it can take a few seconds, depending on the file’s size.
- Choose the options you want to apply to the file.
- Share or copy the text if needed.
If you are not satisfied with the end result, you can tap the three dots at the upper right corner of the screen while in Extract Insights mode > choose Regenerate.
