    Share files with Android devices

Currently, there isn't a native option to share files with Android devices in Documents, so we gathered some workarounds that might help. If none of them meets your needs, it will be useful for us to hear about your experience with cross-platform file sharing. You can share your thoughts on how we can make Documents better by filling this form.

Send files via email right from the app

Sending files using email is one of the easiest ways to share items with others; moreover, there is an easy way to do it right from the Documents app.

Tip: If your file is too big to be sent over email, you can compress it. Documents in-built archiver reduces the size of a file while preserving the original data.

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Tap the needed files or folders > ... More at the bottom > Email.
    3. Fill in the needed fields and tap the iconat the top right.

To email a single file, tap ... on it > tap Email > fill in the needed fields > tap the icon at the top right.

Alternatively, or to email multiple files at once, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select
    2. Tap the needed files or folders, then tap Email on the sidebar.
    3. Fill in the needed fields and tap the icon at the top right.
Note: For sending files via email, the Documents app uses a standard iOS mail client. Thus, before sending the files out via email in the Documents app, make sure that you have the Mail app installed on your device and at least one email account set as a default in iOS Settings.

Share files through a cloud storage

This is a great method for transferring many files at once regardless of their size. All you need is a cloud storage account and access to the Internet on both devices. Even though iCloud is what the major part of iOS users is used to, it may not be the best possible option when it comes to cross-platform file sharing. You may find Dropbox, Google Drive, or, for example, Office 365, to be more convenient for this purpose.

To get started, you need to connect the chosen cloud to Documents and upload the files you want to share. After that, there are two scenarios:

    • If you need to transfer files between devices that belong to you, you'll need to install your cloud storage app on your Android device and log in with the same account you used in Documents.
    • If you need to share files with somebody else, you can simply share a link to the files - neither the cloud storage app nor the access to your account needed.

Download and enjoy the files on both platforms!

Use iOS to Android transfer software

The data transfer apps allow you to transfer files from your iPhone or iPad to an Android device wirelessly. There are numerous cross-platform apps, thus, if you find a dedicated transfer software to be the best option for you, you'll have what to choose from. We recommend making sure that the app of your choice is trusted and secure before using it.
