    Copy, move, rename, delete, restore, or compress files and folders

    With Documents, you can perform various actions you would normally do with files and folders on your computer, such as copying, moving, deleting, and so on. Moreover, there are multiple ways you can do this - follow the article to find out how.

    Copy files and folders

    To copy a single file or folder, tap ... on a file or folder > tap Copy > select the destination folder > tap Copy in the top right.

    Alternatively, or to copy multiple files or folders, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Tap the needed files or folders, then tap Copy at the bottom.
    3. Select the destination folder.
    4. Tap Copy at the top right.
    Tip: If you want to create a duplicate of a file or folder in the same directory, tap Duplicate in the context menu.

    To copy a single file or folder, tap ... on a file or folder > tap Copy > select the destination folder > tap Copy in the top right.

    Alternatively, or to copy multiple files or folders, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Tap the needed files or folders, then tap Copy on the sidebar.
    3. Select the destination folder.
    4. Tap Copy at the top right.
    Tip: If you want to create a duplicate of a file or folder in the same directory, tap Duplicate on the sidebar.

    Move files and folders

    To move a single file or folder, do one of the following:

    • Tap ... on a file or folder > tap Move > select the destination folder > tap Move at the top right.
    • Tap and hold the file or folder, then drag and drop it to the destination folder.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the file or folder > tap Move in the bottom > select the destination folder > tap Move at the top right.

    To move multiple files or folders, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Select the needed files and folders and tap Move at the bottom.
    3. Select the destination folder.
    4. Tap Move at the top right.

    Alternatively, you can drag and drop files or folders to the destination folder once they are selected.

    To move a single file or folder, do one of the following:

    • Tap ... on a file or folder > tap Move > select the destination folder > tap Move at the top right.
    • Tap and hold the file or folder, then drag and drop it to the destination folder.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the file or folder > tap Move on the sidebar > select the destination folder > tap Move at the top right.

    To move multiple files or folders, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Select the needed files and folders and tap Move on the sidebar.
    3. Select the destination folder.
    4. Tap Move at the top right.

    Alternatively, you can drag and drop files or folders to the destination folder once they are selected.

    Delete files and folders

    To delete a single file or folder, you can do one of the following:

    • Tap ... on a file or folder > tap Delete.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the file or folder you want to delete > tap Delete at the bottom.
    • Tap and hold the file or folder > drag and drop it to the trash can icon at the bottom.

    To delete multiple files or folders, you can:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Select the files or folders you want to delete.
    3. Tap Delete at the bottom.
    Note: Once you delete a file or a folder, a 5-second pop-up appears. Tap Put Back if you need to undo the deletion.

    To delete a single file or folder, you can do one of the following:

    • Tap ... on a file or folder > tap Delete.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the file or folder you want to delete > tap Delete on the sidebar.
    • Tap and hold the file or folder > drag and drop it to the trash can icon to the bottom of the sidebar.

    To delete multiple files or folders, you can:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Select the files or folders you want to delete.
    3. Tap Delete on the sidebar.
    Note: Once you delete a file or a folder, a 5-second pop-up appears. Tap Put Back if you need to undo the deletion.

    Restore files and folders or delete them forever

    Once you delete a file or folder, it gets into the Recently Deleted folder.

    To restore files and folders:

    1. Open the Recently Deleted folder in the Documents app.
    2. Tap ... at the top right > Select, and select the files or folders you want to restore.
    3. Tap Put Back at the bottom left.

    To delete files or folders forever:

    1. Open the Recently Deleted folder in the Documents app.
    2. Select the files or folders you want to delete forever.
    3. Tap Delete at the bottom right.
    4. Tap Yes in the pop-up window.

    Once you delete a file or folder, it gets into the Recently Deleted folder.

    To restore files and folders:

    1. Open the Recently Deleted folder in the Documents app.
    2. Tap ... at the top right > Select, and select the files or folders you want to restore.
    3. Tap Put Back on the sidebar.

    To delete files or folders forever:

    1. Open the Recently Deleted folder in the Documents app.
    2. Select the files or folders you want to delete forever.
    3. Tap Delete on the sidebar.
    4. Tap Yes in the pop-up window.

    Rename files and folders

    To rename a file or folder, you can do one of the following:

    • Tap the needed file or folder name >  edit the name > tap Done at the top right.
    • Tap ... on the file or folder > tap Rename > edit the name > tap Done at the top right.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the needed file or folder > tap Rename at the bottom > edit the name > tap Done at the top right.

    To rename a file or folder, you can do one of the following:

    • Tap the needed file or folder name >  edit the name > tap Done at the top right.
    • Tap ... on the file or folder > tap Rename > edit the name > tap Done at the top right.
    • Tap ... at the top right > Select> tap the needed file or folder > tap Rename on the sidebar > edit the name > tap Done at the top right.

    Compress files and folders

    With compression, you can create a single ZIP file from several files or folders. This allows you to save space by reducing their size as well as easily share them via email.

    To compress a single file or folder, tap ... on a file or folder > tap Compress.

    Alternatively, or to compress multiple files or folders, follow these steps:

    1. Tap ... at the top right > Select.
    2. Tap the files or folders you want to compress.
    3. Tap More at the bottom right and tap Compress.
    Note: The new ZIP file will be created in the same folder where the original file is located.

    With compression, you can create a single ZIP file from several files or folders. This allows you to save space by reducing their size as well as easily share them via email.
