    Create a table of contents in a PDF file

    In Documents, you can create and edit outlines to quickly navigate your document.

    How to add new outlines

    iPhone iPad
    1. Open a PDF file.
    2. Tap  at the bottom.
    3. Select the central Outlines tab. If the file already has a table of contents, you’ll see it here.
    4. Tap Add Outline. Now, the outline item links to the current page.
    5. Rename the outline item.
    6. Tap Done.

    4. Tap Edit at the top right.
    5. Tap Add. Now, the outline item links to the current page.
    6. Rename the outline item.
    7. Tap Done.

    How to edit outlines

    1. Open a PDF file.
    2. Tap  at the bottom.
    3. Select Edit at the top right.
    4. To rename an outline item, tap its name and start typing.
    5. To change the page number this outline item links to, tap .
    6. You can enter a new page number or scroll the file until you find the page you need.
    7. Drag & Drop the items to change their order.
    8. To create a subitem in your outline, tap and hold  . Then, drag and drop one item over another.
    9. Tap Done.

    Search through annotations

    Tap the Bookmarks, Outlines, Annotations summary icon  on the toolbar of the file, switch to the Outlines tab, then swipe down to reveal Search and quickly find the information you are looking for.

    How to delete outlines

    iPhone iPad
    1. Open a PDF file.
    2. Tap the icon  at the bottom.
    3. Select Edit at the top right.
    4. Tap the trash can icon near the outline item you want to delete.
