    Accept or block new senders

    October 15th, 2024

The Gatekeeper feature puts you in control of who’s allowed to email you - and who isn’t. The first time someone emails you, you get to decide if you want to get emails from them again: you can either accept the new sender or decline them. The senders are not notified if you block them in Gatekeeper.

Note: Gatekeeper is a part of Spark Premium functionality. By default, Spark accepts all senders except those you previously blocked. You can turn on the Gatekeeper in Spark Settings > Inbox > Gatekeeper.
    Jump to:
    • Access the Gatekeeper settings
    • Setting Gatekeeper
    • Using Gatekeeper

    Access the Gatekeeper settings

    Mac OS iOS Android

Gatekeeper is not supported in Spark Classic. To use Gatekeeper on Mac, download Spark Desktop from our website.

    1. Tap the menu icon   at the top left.
    2. Open Settings.
    3. Select the Inbox section > Smart 2.0 > Gatekeeper.
    1. Tap the menu icon   at the top left.
    2. Tap Settings  .
    3. Select the Smart Inbox section > Smart 2.0 > New senders.

    Setting Gatekeeper

Once you accessed the Gatekeeper settings, you can choose where to accept or block senders:

    • On top of the Inbox
    • Inside the email
    • Accept all without asking (Off)
Tip: If you would like to bulk accept or bulk block new senders, select the “On top of the Inbox” option.

    Using Gatekeeper

Once the Gatekeeper is on, you will be asked whether to accept or block the sender every time somebody with a new email address emails you. The senders are not notified regardless of your choice. For them, it looks the same as if they have never received a reply from you.

Note: The Gatekeeper blocks email addresses but not the domains.

    Bulk accept or bulk block

Besides accepting or blocking senders separately, you can bulk accept or bulk block all the senders with just a few clicks. To do so:

    1. Open Inbox and tap New Senders above the new sender cards or the … > Show All at the top right.
    2. At the top right, tap the thumb-up to accept all the senders or a thumb-down to block them.
Note: This option is available if you choose Gatekeeper to be on top of the Inbox.

    Unblock the sender

To unblock the sender, open the Blocked section of the sidebar, open an email from the sender you want to unblock, and tap Accept sender.

    Block domain

    1. Open the needed email > Tap on the subject line.
    2. Tap on the sender's details.
    3. Scroll down and select Block Domain.
Note: After the subscription ends, previously blocked senders and domains will remain blocked, New Senders can be accepted only.
