To make it easy to search through the contents of scans, Scanner Pro applies Text Recognition. The app automatically detects Latin-based languages and adds a text layer upon your scans to make them searchable. If the text in your scans is not in a Latin-based language, please choose the required language bundle in the app Settings first.
Prerequisites
It’s possible to search through text in Scanner Pro 8.0 or later. For those who previously bought Scanner Pro, this functionality is free. For new customers, the feature is included with a Plus subscription.
Search through texts in Latin-based languages
- Open Scanner Pro and tap the search field to search all your scans.
- Alternatively, open a scan > tap the three dots icon at the top right > select Search by Text to search the opened document.
- Type your query, then tap the page you need in the search results.
- When finished working with search, tap Done at the top right corner.
Search through texts in other languages
If the language used in the text of your scans is not a Latin-based one, you should manually choose the needed language first. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the Scanner Pro Settings and tap Text Recognition (OCR).
- Make sure the Auto Text Recognition (OCR) toggle is enabled.
- Choose the language bundle - you can see what languages are included in a bundle by tapping on it.
- Tap Save.
Once done, all scans that are already added in this language become searchable. You can also search the newly added files in the chosen language until you change it in Settings again.
Then, do the following:
- Open Scanner Pro and tap the search field to search all your scans.
- Alternatively, open a scan > tap the three dots icon at the top right > select Search by Text to search the opened document.
- Type your query, then tap the page you need in the search results.
- When finished working with search, tap Done at the top right corner.
Troubleshooting
If you’re experiencing any issues with searching through the contents of your scans, please make sure you have the latest app version installed. Next, ensure the language in the app settings matches the language used in the scan. Then try quitting the app and launching it again. If the situation hasn’t been resolved at this point, please contact our support team by following these steps:
- Launch Scanner Pro and tap the Settings icon at the top left.
- Scroll down and tap Help & Support.
- Tap Get Assistance to get quick help from our chatbot.
- If you're using the Scanner Pro Plus subscription, tap Priority Support, and our support team will get in touch to resolve the issue.
