Calendars works as a companion app for your calendar accounts, helping you organize your schedule, track events, and manage appointments in one place. To use the app, you’ll need to connect it to a calendar service, such as Google Calendar, Outlook, iCloud, or other third-party calendars, into the app.
When setting up Calendars for the first time, the app will prompt you to connect your preferred calendar service. Simply choose the service you use, like Google Calendar or Outlook, and sign in with your credentials directly within the app.
Once connected, Calendars will sync your events and appointments, bringing everything together into a single, organized view.
Here’s how it typically works:
- Adding Calendar Services: Once you launch the Calendars app for the first time, you get a prompt to Connect your calendars. You can toggle on the Local Calendar right away - by doing this, your Apple Calendar account will be added to the app. You can also select any other option from the list. You'll be prompted to enter your login credentials for each service. - Syncing Data: Once the account is linked, the Calendars app can sync your events and appointments from the added services. Any changes made to your calendar in Google or Outlook, etc. (such as adding or modifying an event) will automatically reflect in the Calendars app, and vice versa, provided the sync settings are configured properly.
- Unified View: After the integration, the events from all added calendars are displayed in a combined view. You can color-code each calendar to easily differentiate between events from different services. This makes it convenient to see your entire schedule in one place.
- Managing Events: You can create, edit, and delete events directly in Calendars, and those changes will sync across all devices and services connected to your account. You can also set reminders, alerts, and recurring events for better organization.
By bringing all your calendar services together in one place, you can keep your schedules and appointments seamlessly synced across different platforms.
